U12s in County Tournament
The boys U 12's took part in the Notts County tournament on Sunday 20th. They were placed in the toughest group with the top Beeston team, Newark and Players. A comfortable opening win against Players (6 - 0) was followed by a realatively easy win against Newark (2 - 0?) and a loss against Beeston A. The lads played well throughout the group stage, even against Beeston. Into the next league and a win against Beeston 2nd team set up a decider against Boots. Bridgford needed a win or a draw, Boots needed a win. A nervy affair saw the game end 0 - 0 and Bridgford qualify for the Midlands! Well done to all the lads who showed some great talent and fighting spirit even when towards the end they were very tired. An even bigger well done to manager Alistair Hunt who managed the team to a well deserved runners up spot.
This was also the first time we have entered an U12 girls team and our squad of 8 girls got off to a flying start winning the first game against Boots. The next 2 games against Newark and Beeston A were very closely fought but the opposition proved too strong for us and these were the 2 teams that eventually went through to the midlands tournament. The final showdown was against Beeston B, a very even game with both teams having plenty of chances but the Beeston keeper put in an amazing performance to deny us several deserved goals. Overall a really fun day with lots of excellent hockey played.
