The sad loss of a great friend and WB hockey player

It is with a heavy heart and enormous sadness that I have to report the loss of my dear friend, wonderful man and ex WBHC member Martin Lloyd-Penny. Martin finally lost the fight with cancer last week after a titanic battle lasting over 4 years. Martin was both a dear friend to many of us, a wonderful business partner to me, and a great lover of sport in all its guises. He was father to Nils and Herre who many will remember as great players, Nils going on to play Internationally for Wales, and his daughter Tanne. He leaves a wonderful wife Manon, who fought the cancer bravely with him, and an empty void in the lives of all who loved him.

The funeral will take place on the 2nd of February 2pm at Burton Joyce Village Hall and then on to the Wake in the Lord Nelson Pub at 3pm. If you wish to bring something please bring non-perishable food (in a bag) as Martin was very active in supporting the local Food Bank. Martin had many close friends in the Club as he enjoyed touring at Easter, and he was always supportive of the Club even after retirement, sponsoring teams and coming to Club functions. If you have any questions for me, or messages you might like me to pass on to the family please contact me by email.
