Tragic Death of Coops
I cannot believe that I am having to write this, and it isn't easy with misty eyes and a damp keyboard, but I have to report to you that our great Club member, friend and all round fabulous man Richard Cooper (Coops) sadly died over the weekend. We knew that he was feeling tired after umpiring at the Club Tournament, but we had no warning that he was seriously unwell. His family knew nothing of any illness, and so this has come as an enormous shock to all who knew and loved him. At the moment the family will have to wait for the results of a post mortem before we will know what will happen next. When I know more I will post it here. I really do not know what to say, as I feel so sad to have lost a great friend of over 35 years. When I have had time to get over the shock I will be able to let you know just how special I knew he was, a truly faithful, funny and generous man. But you all knew that anyway.

I have spoken to Janet Cooper, Richards' sister inlaw, and she is happy to pass on messages from us to Molly (Mum) via email. Her email is janet.cooper@sky.com . The post mortem is likely to take a couple of weeks. (read on).

We have just heard the news that the post mortem is complete, the findings are that Coops died of a massive pulmonary embolism. It will have been quick and painless, which gives me a little relief as I was very upset that he may have died alone and in pain.

I will post details of the funeral here in the next few day, but it will be at Wilford Hill and the Wake will be at the Clubhouse. I will also be asking people to let me know if they will be coming.
