LADIES 1s PROMOTED - 100% League Record

The combined heat of an expectant Bridgford Ladies 1st team, Dave, Geoff, Claire, Jos' fiancée, some boyfriends and Nays Dad was plenty to melt a frosty Uni pitch this Sunday morning. After the thaw, our determined hockey snuffed out any Uni plans to spoil our domination, leaving them to play the hopeful long ball. Unlucky, our defence was firm, and going forward we had skill, pace and power. 2  1 up at the break we had the game under control. A spendid drive down the right from Ellie was crashed home by H on the P spot, and then a short corner was slipped left by Faye to Jo who hit a screamer into the roof of the net off the keepers pads. New pads needed for next season! A controvertial Uni stroke and a consolation tap in brought the score to 4 3, but we were pushing to the last, and ran out worthy winners and league champions, unbeaten for the season! Well done ladies and thank you for a brilliant season, just 2 more cups to bring home. I must also mention that Naomi has been brilliant this season, keeping the girls firmly on task, it isn't easy to lead an unbeaten team. Finally I must thank everyone in the club who has helped us, especially Dave Taylder for coaching, Bob, Glyn, Pete Fenton, Rich Whittle, Paul Gegg and Mike Berry for umpiring, and the support staff (Derek) with special mention for his spuds that "saw" us through the season..
